Case Study: Building Burnout To Boss – From Idea to a Fully Produced Course and Cohesive Kajabi Course
Aug 28, 2025
When the creator of the Burnout To Boss Course Series approached me, she had an inspiring vision but no finished course. She knew she wanted to help burned-out teachers transition into business ownership, beginning with childcare centers, but what she had was only a loose outline and a few pages of notes. She wanted to turn that idea into a polished, professional, market-ready program complete with video lessons, downloadable resources, a branded Kajabi site, and a sales strategy that could scale into future courses and coaching services.
This case study explains how I helped transform that early-stage idea into a flagship course, How to Build a Six-Figure Childcare Business. It highlights how I managed everything from instructional design and scriptwriting to video coaching, graphics creation, sales page development, backend Kajabi setup, and marketing strategy. It also details the unique challenge of balancing highly specific messaging for childcare professionals with the broader flexibility needed to support the client’s consulting services for other types of entrepreneurs.
The Challenge: From Loose Outline to Complete Learning Ecosystem
The project required more than building a course platform. It required designing an entire learning and marketing ecosystem from scratch.
The initial challenges included:
-
No finished course content: The client had expertise, stories, and raw ideas, but nothing was yet structured into lessons, scripts, or resources.
-
Dual positioning needs: The course was designed for teachers transitioning into childcare ownership, but the client also offered consulting services for entrepreneurs outside of childcare. The brand voice and design had to resonate with both without becoming too narrow or too generic.
-
High content demands: The course would need not just video lessons, but an extensive library of downloadable resources, including worksheets, guides, and templates that students could apply directly to their business planning.
-
Platform expectations: The client wanted the course hosted on Kajabi, leveraging all of its features—offers, checkout pages, community integration, post-purchase automation, and live session scheduling.
This wasn’t a matter of plugging content into Kajabi. It was a full-scale instructional design, content creation, and digital experience project.
Step 1: Instructional Design and Course Mapping
The first step was to build a course map that transformed the client’s outline into a teachable structure.
Through in-depth interviews, I extracted the client’s knowledge, experiences, and stories. Then I shaped this raw material into a four-module course, each containing three to four lessons, plus a pre-course orientation module. The course was designed to be:
-
Step-by-step: Walking students through the process of identifying burnout, making the mindset shift, planning a business, setting up legally, and launching.
-
Light but impactful: Lessons were intentionally short and focused, avoiding busywork while still providing real tools and reflection exercises.
-
Action-oriented: Every module included downloadable worksheets and guides to help students apply what they learned immediately to their business journey.
This phase laid the blueprint for everything that followed—scripts, videos, resources, and Kajabi build.
Step 2: Scriptwriting and Video Coaching
Once the course map was in place, I developed detailed scripts for each lesson. These scripts captured the client’s voice while structuring the material for clarity and engagement.
To prepare the client for video recording, I provided coaching on:
-
Delivery style: How to present on camera in a way that felt authentic but polished.
-
Equipment and setup: Recommendations for lighting, background, and sound.
-
Pacing: Encouraging concise, focused delivery to keep learners engaged.
The client recorded lesson videos based on the scripts, and I handled all video editing—cutting, polishing, adding graphics, and ensuring consistency across the course. This ensured the final product felt cohesive and professional, even though it was recorded across multiple sessions.
Step 3: Resource Creation – 25+ Worksheets and Guides
One of the most demanding aspects of the project was the creation of extensive course resources.
In total, the course includes more than 25 worksheets, guides, and templates. These aren’t simple fill-in-the-blank sheets—they are detailed tools designed to help students move from theory to practice. Examples include:
-
Burnout Self-Assessment – helping students identify where they are on the burnout spectrum.
-
Business Setup Checklist – covering legal structure, licensing, EIN registration, insurance, and compliance.
-
Financial Planning Worksheets – guiding students through cost estimates, revenue projections, and break-even analysis.
-
Marketing Templates – sample ads, parent communication templates, and enrollment forms.
-
Energy Audits and Reflection Tools – exercises to help students set boundaries and create sustainable work habits.
Each resource was branded, visually consistent, and designed for easy printing and use. Collectively, they added enormous value to the course and became one of its defining strengths.
Step 4: Sales Page Design with Flexibility for the Future
With the course content built, I turned to sales page design.
The challenge was to strike a balance:
-
Immediate clarity: The page needed to make it obvious that this first course teaches burned-out educators how to build six-figure childcare businesses.
-
Future flexibility: The design also had to accommodate future Burnout 2 Boss courses, plus general consulting services outside of childcare.
Key Features of the Sales Page
-
Hero Section: Clear promise and transformation statement, supported by strong credibility as someone who has done it herself.
-
Problem/Solution Framing: Teacher burnout statistics paired with the opportunity of childcare business ownership.
-
Course Breakdown: Visual overview of modules and lessons.
-
Credibility Proof: References to the client’s thriving childcare business and past consulting success.
-
Calls to Action: Multiple CTAs inviting users to join the flagship cohort with introductory pricing.
Built for Scale
I deliberately designed the page with modular flexibility. Sections can be duplicated to showcase additional courses in the series, or adapted to highlight broader business consulting services. The brand palette and design language are neutral enough to cross industries while still conveying warmth and authority.
Step 5: Backend Kajabi Build
The Kajabi setup was extensive, designed to create a seamless student experience and robust business infrastructure.
-
Offer Creation: Flagship cohort pricing, with flexibility to add tiers and coaching upsells later.
-
Checkout Pages: Branded with clear trust signals and simple navigation.
-
Course Structure: Pre-course orientation module, four main modules, and a post-course wrap-up.
-
Automations: Post-purchase sequences guiding students into the course, encouraging downloads, and reminding them of live coaching calls.
-
Community Integration: Kajabi’s community feature used to connect students between live calls.
-
Live Coaching: Calendar integration and automated reminders for the weekly Friday sessions.
-
Resource Library: Organized repository of all worksheets and guides, easy to navigate inside Kajabi.
The backend wasn’t just functional—it was scalable. Adding the second course in the Burnout 2 Boss series will require minimal additional setup, because the infrastructure is already in place.
Step 6: Marketing and Messaging Alignment
To ensure the sales page and Kajabi experience converted visitors into students, I also refined the marketing narrative.
Key strategies included:
-
Flagship Urgency: Emphasizing the opportunity to be part of the first-ever cohort at a discounted rate, with prices rising later.
-
Data-Driven Proof: Using statistics on teacher burnout to validate the need for the course.
-
Empowerment Messaging: Positioning the course as a path to freedom, income, and purpose—rather than simply an escape from burnout.
-
Email Campaigns: A pre-launch and launch sequence written to nurture leads who had downloaded the Burnout Self-Assessment quiz.
This alignment across copy, visuals, and automation ensured consistency from first impression to post-purchase.
Results
The first course, How to Build a Six-Figure Childcare Business, successfully launched with a polished sales page, professional course videos, a full library of downloadable resources, and a seamless Kajabi backend.
The project didn’t just create a course—it created a brand foundation. The Burnout 2 Boss identity is now positioned to expand into:
-
Additional courses in the series.
-
One-on-one and group coaching offers.
-
Business consulting services beyond childcare.
The infrastructure is strong enough that each new course or offer can be added quickly, without rebuilding from scratch.
Reflections: Why This Project Stood Out
What made this project unique was its scope. Unlike many course builds where the client provides finished materials, here the entire course had to be built from the ground up. That meant:
-
Extracting expertise through interviews.
-
Transforming raw ideas into scripts and structured lessons.
-
Coaching a new instructor on video delivery.
-
Editing every video for polish and consistency.
-
Designing and producing more than two dozen branded worksheets and guides.
-
Creating a sales page designed for both immediate clarity and long-term flexibility.
-
Building a complete Kajabi backend with automations, offers, community, and live coaching integration.
-
Aligning the marketing message across sales copy, email campaigns, and course experience.
This kind of comprehensive build required not just Kajabi expertise, but also instructional design, brand strategy, copywriting, graphic design, and marketing strategy. It’s a testament to what’s possible when all of these elements are integrated deliberately.
Conclusion
The Burnout 2 Boss project illustrates the difference between simply uploading content and designing a complete course ecosystem.
By starting with only an outline and an idea, I built a flagship course with:
-
Professionally scripted and edited video lessons.
-
Over 25 custom-designed worksheets and guides.
-
A flexible, scalable Kajabi backend.
-
A sales page that balances niche clarity with long-term versatility.
-
Marketing aligned to urgency, credibility, and empowerment.
Now, the Burnout 2 Boss brand has a professional foundation that can grow with future courses and services. In fact, we are already under contract to build the second course in the series, and the flexible design choices we made from the start will make that process faster and more seamless.
This project demonstrates the power of combining Kajabi expertise with full-scale course development services—taking a vision from rough idea to polished, profitable program. Burnout 2 Boss isn’t just a course launch; it’s the launch of a brand designed to last.
